Tag Phrasing
A tag point must be presented with TAGteach phrasing to ensure optimum clarity and focus.
Tag points start with the phrase:
The tag point is…
It is very important to use the phrase “The tag point is” when you are giving a tag point. This phrase is like a highlighter and directs the learner to focus on the important information you are about to give them. Eventually this phrase becomes very powerful and is associated with the good feelings that come from success. It becomes a cue to the learner to pay close attention, because the most important information is about to come.
The tag point is… When learners hear this phrase, they immediately tune in to you. They know the most important information is coming and they will have the opportunity to earn a tag.
The phrase “The tag point is…” is the last thing you say to the learner before the 5 word tag point. You would never say “The tag point is…” and then proceed to give an explanation or additional instructions. If you need explanations or additional instructions, you do that before you get to the point of giving the tag point.
For Example:
Dribble the ball up and down the court 3 times.
Be polite when asking for something.
The tag point is … say please.
