Tag Practice: Timing 1
Get out your tagger and get ready for some more practice! Please note that these videos were made before we had the five words or less rule, so some of them have an extra word. Just ignore this error and focus on the tagging practice with the videos.
Below, you will get a chance to tag some videos to get a feeling for what it is like to tag during sports applications.
Each video has a few seconds of sound at the beginning to illustrate the tag point. After that the sound track is quiet so that you can hear only your own tags.
The tag point is the precise response, action or position that the learner is striving to execute correctly. When executed correctly, the teacher will tag.
You can repeat these videos as often as you wish if you want to get additional practice at improving your tag timing and observation skills.
In the video you will see gymnasts doing a handstand with a split.
The tag point is back leg parallel to the floor. Tag at the exact moment you see the back leg come parallel with the floor.
Even if the gymnast falls over, her leg will pass through the parallel point and you should tag when this happens. This will help her learn the feeling associated with having her leg in the correct position.
