TAG: Off-Point Errors

Off-Point Error: Shelve It!

Learner performs tag point correctly, but you observe errors that need attention.

Ex. Teaching a “hand target” to retrieve a distracted dog.

The instructions are: When the dog is low level distracted, present a hand target to get his attention

The tag point is: present hand target

Action: The learner calls the dog’s name, pulls on the leash, and then presents the hand target.

Result:

  • Learner performs the tag point and receives the tag.
  • Mentally notes mistakes/concerns and places on the “next” shelf.
