Reinforce: DIY from Punishing to Reinforcing

Doing it yourself can be very reinforcing!

If your teacher:

  • Passion talks – making instructions are hard to tease out
  • The difficulty level is off
  • Too many instructions
  • Too many words in a single instruction
  • The order of words isn’t right for you

Student can create their own instructions/tag points

EXAMPLE:

Teacher:

After Zazzy has ‘touched’ the target, don’t forget to remove the target so he doesn’t get confused by the target still being available. He may want to keep hitting it and you won’t be able to get a clean learning loop. We want to remove the opportunity for reinforcement for the moment.

Student:

Let me say that back to you…

The instructions are: After Zazzy touches the target – remove the target
