Power of the Pause

Even when we break information into small pieces, we need to give learners time to “eat”.

Learners need time to process the information we give them, especially when it ends in a request for action.

One way we can commit to the time allowance is to provide a pause after important information.

  • Power of the Pause
    • Create a 3 count pause:
      • After the Lesson and before “The instructions are:”
      • After “The instructions are:” and before “The tag point is:”
      • After the tag

 

Focus Funnel for Pause

Lesson: Learners need time to process the information we give them, especially when it ends in a request for action.

One way we can commit to the time allowance, is to pause after important information. Let’s practice that within a Focus Funnel.

The instructions are:

After delivering the lesson, finger count to 3.

The tag point is: begin finger count
