Benefits: Impartial Third Party
The tag is an impartial third party that is somehow disconnected from the person holding the tagger.
The tag sounds the same no matter who is holding the tagger and no matter how hard they press it.
The tag is non-judgmental; it conveys information and no more than that. Because the tag point is the only thing being looked at, learners don’t feel they’re being judged as an athlete/student/person.
The tag communicates no personal bias.
Learners often look at the hand holding the tagger rather than at the face of the teacher.
Tags don’t yell… Tags are polite. – Dayna, child volleyball player
