Part 3: Reinforce

The third step in applying the TAGteach approach is to reinforce the successful completion of the tag point.

  • Reinforce a tagged behavior with something that the learner wants.
  • The sound of the tag indicates success. Success is a very potent reinforcer for most people.
  • Through its repeated association with success, the sound of the tag can become reinforcing in itself.
  • Other reinforcers may include tokens, prizes, food, a chance to play, etc.
