Exercise 1
Create a plan for a tiered reinforcement scheme. Explain how you know that the reinforcers you choose are actually reinforcing for the learners. Describe the learning situation that this scheme would be used with (e.g., preschool quiet time; 12 year old boys basketball; adult weight loss etc).
The ribbons shown here illustrate the basic idea. For example it may take 5 tags to earn a pink ribbon. Once you have collected 9 ribbons you can trade them for a red ribbon. When you have 9 red ribbons you can trade them in for a blue ribbon which you can keep. When everyone has a blue ribbon the group will all go out for coffee. Record your scheme in your journal.
