Five words or less

A tag point is a single point of focus. The fewer the words that make up a tag point the better!

The tag point is… “Left foot on tape”

“What we want to happen” has been tightly packaged, making it easy for the learner to understand and easy for the teacher to tag.

Leaving out the words “you” or “your” in a tag point phrase reduces the number of words and also keeps the tag point impersonal. The learner may feel judged when the tag point contains the words “you” or “your”, so it is best practice to leave them out. We’ll talk more about that later.
