Martha: That was a really nice video and it was nice to think about the temperature being 87 

degrees as opposed to 17 degrees. Does anyone have any comments on that other than the nice 

summertime weather? 

Joan: We have a comment going back to the previous video. This relates to what Joey was saying 

about control. This is from Luca, “Back to the Joey video and what you said in the discussion. 

Could it be that the control is the ultimate reinforcer? Especially in a case like this where there is 

a huge component of anxiety in the behavior we are asking our students to learn?”

Martha: I think that’s a brilliant statement. That’s definitely the case there. Having some access 

to some control and feeling that would be extremely reinforcing. 

Joan: Kendra is asking, “Who is leading the soccer tag?”

Joan: It’s my sister Linda. You probably saw Anne in there too and Jennifer, many years ago. I 

think that was in 2002. 

Joan: Kimberly says, “Hi there. I noticed at one point in the video that two children were 

performing a drill at once. Is there a specific strategy for tagging multiple learners at once? How 

do each of the children know that the tag was directed at them?”

Joan: There is one person. Somebody was running up and down the side, one of the other kids, 

tagging them. So that’s how we do drills or work with multiple people. We give the learner the 

opportunity to be the teachers; they have the tagger, they take their turn. They will be the ones to 

do the tagging, so they learn while they are tagging and they learn while they are getting their 

turn. Nobody has any trouble hearing their own tag. We’ve had maybe 50 taggers going in a 

room at once, and the kids are very good at picking up which tag is for them. 

Joan: Kathy says, “Soccer – it’s a beautiful demonstration of TAGteach flexibility incorporated 

throughout the session.”

Joan: Yes, TAGteach is wonderful for the flexibility and the versatility. And the imagination of 

the coach is so much available. It’s an opportunity for the teachers to use their imagination.

Theresa: I have one more comment. The thing about multiple markers going off at the same 

time: if somebody to each one of those kids, “Good job, good job,” they would hear that for 

themselves, so the marker is no different.

Soccer practice: This video shows a group of 9 year old boys at soccer practice. Not the easiest age group to keep under control! Here they are counting up their tags and at the end they fill out cards and when they have a whole row marked they get a soccer patch. Of course the coach makes sure that everyone has the opportunity to get enough tags to get the prize.
