Finding Good Reinforcers
Since the conequence is so important, it is vital to figure out good reinforcers. Again, why?
Dr. Martin Kozloff explains,
“The more rewards you have, the more you can change a child’s behavior.”
The more reinforcers we have, the more options we have to change behaviors.
How do we figure out good reinforcers? As always, your child is your best guide.
Spend a day or two observing your child. Write down what you observe about:
- Desired foods
- Desired toys or objects
- Desired interactions (praise, hugs, tickles)
- Desired activities
- Desired outings
