Tag Points for Inside the House

When kids come home from school, it’s good for them to know what they need to do next. Here’s a list of common activities:

  • Backpack on hook
  • Coat on hook
  • Wash hands

Tag and reinforce for each of these actions.

Over time, they will become routine.

Let’s talk about peer tagging. It doesn’t have to be Mom or Dad who tags these actions. This is a perfect time to get brothers, sisters, relatives or friends to help out with tagging. It’s easy to do and everyone will enjoy it! Remember to thank and reinforce the siblings who help out. This will make it a win-win situation for all the children in the family.

If your child has to change clothes when he comes home, use these actions as opportunities to tag and reinforce.

  • Shirt off
  • Pants/Skirt off
  • Shoes Off
  • T-shirt on
  • Pants/shorts on
  • Shoes on

Many kids enjoy having a snack when they get home. Here are more tag points for the snack process:

  • Requests food/drink (sign, verbal or picture) Gets/prepares food
  • Sits at table
  • Eats snack
  • Dishes in sink
