Time matters
In the instructions part of the focus funnel we usually say “we will do this 5 times”….
But: how do we know if our learner are ready to move forward? Ho do we know they have mastered the skill in a “scientific” way?
It’s all about measuring perfomances!
How can we do that??
If we consider just the accuracy we could make decision mistakes..
10 tags in 3 minutes (0 errors) are far different from 15 tags in 1 min (2 errors) for the same behavior. The second learner is fast and almost accurate. The first one is not: it’s just accurate, but slow. Who will get the higher scores in a math test?
So when shall we move forward? When learners meet Fluency criteria and they can master the skill quickly and correctly.
- We need to assess Frequency!
