Miss big, learn big
One feature in common between TAGteach and PT is how both of them handle mistakes They focus on positive language and use mistakes as information to help the learner to improve. Do you remember the high jump video? Especially at the beginning Learners miss big, but these big mistakes handled via positive reinforcement, set learners for big leaps. Mistakes are not something to get rid of, but something we have to change in learners’ growth and self esteem. Learning Opportunities are something we are not (still) good at, but that we can improve and get better.
Another example could be with reading words like you saw above. At the end of the timing, Luca is not going to go through and tell his learner about all the words he got wrong. Instead, he will have his learner keep practicing and tagging him for the correct ones. If he continues to make errors, Luca will change his tag point and his teaching to make sure his learner is successful.
