Tag Point Definition
The tag point is: The discrete part of a behavior that, when/as performed, will receive the audible tag.
Here is an example of a physical movement that will be defined by the tag point.
The girl is holding the ball with her arm in a specific way.
The tag point is “Arm Horizontal.”
It’s very clear and specific, and can conveyed with only 2 words.
As the teacher you would say to the learner:
The tag point is arm horizontal
When the learner does it correctly you tag.
If she doesn’t do it you don’t tag
Here’s a short video to show you how this works. Notice how quickly the learner becomes proficient and confident and that the talking is kept to a bare minimum.
